Udupi: Fr Charles Menezes appointed international director for IYCS-JECI
Fr Charles Menezes has been appointed the international director for IYCS – JECI (International Young Catholic Students) with effective from July 24 for the year 2015 – 2019.
He will be taking charge from Fr Paul Tiga Zangre.
Fr Charles Menezes was born on October 18, 1963 as the third among five children - four sons and one daughter - of the late Louis and Mary Menezes of Moodubelle, Holy Family Ward. He had his higher primary and high school education in the Church Aided Higher Primary and St Lawrence High School respectively. While in high school, Charles was took a keen interest in sports, especially athletics. Charles continued his PUC education at the Poorna Prajna College, Udupi. During these years he developed an inte
rest in singing and was a member of the Moodubelle parish choir. Meanwhile he also joined the Catholic Youth Movement (CYM) and became its secretary while studying in the second year PUC.
After being ordained a priest, Fr Charles Menezes was appointed as the assistant parish priest at Agrar near Bantwal where he served for two years. Later, he was transferred to Cordel (Kulshekar) parish where he worked for four years and thereafter at Vittal for one year before being appointed as the assistant director for the Mangaluru diocese of the Young Christian Students (YCS) and the Young Students Movement (YSM) in 1997. While YSM is meant for the school going children between the age of 13 to 15 years, that is, 8th to 10th standards, the YCS is meant for students in the age of 15 to 18, that is, for the students of First Year and Second Year PUC, where as the Indian Catholic Youth Movement (ICYM) is meant for those who are in the age group between 18 to 28 years.
When asked how he came to be appointed as the assistant director for the Youth, Fr Charles said that when he went to Cordel as the assistant parish priest, he found that the youth movement in the parish had ceased to function due to some reasons and the students studying in PUC had no opportunities to get organized and be active. In order to provide a proper direction to the adolescent youth and to channelize their energies in positive way, Fr Charles took the initiative and started the YCS for the PUC students of the parish. The efforts of Fr Charles bore fruit and a large number of PUC students joined the movement and became quite active in the parish.
As the work of organising and galvanizing the youth through YCS was noticed and appreciated by the authorities concerned, after completing one year as the assistant parish priest at Vittal, Fr Charles was appointed as the assistant director for the Mangaluru dioces of YCS and YSM on the recommendation of the director, Fr Alwyn who is presently national ICYM director. Fr Charles was assigned the full charge of both YCS and YSM, a responsibility that he carried forward with dedication and ability till 2005.
Fr Charles said that the formation of the Catholic students from 1st to 10th standard was taken care of by the Sunday Catechism classes. After SSLC a few students joined ICYM and the PUC students were completely left out of any youth movement. Either they had to join the ICYM or be without any youth activity. Realising that the Christian students should be given an opportunity to be part of a youth movement at the crucial stage of adolescence, Fr Charles extended the scope of YCS to include PUC students in 1997. Fr Charles said that it was a big task to convince the diocesan authorities and the students about the need to extend YCS movement to the PUC students.
After convincing the parties concerned about the efficacy of the youth movement, during the first year after taking charge, Fr Charles succeeded in including PUC students from 24 parishes in the YCS movement. By the time he completed the term as the assistant director in 2005, the YCS was extended to 108 parishes which presently covers 136 parishes.
In 2005, Fr Charles was transferred to the Nirmarga parish as the parish priest where he served for five years with great dedication before being appointed as the YCS/YSM national director during the 15th National Council of YCS/YSM held in Mangaluru from May 14 to 20, 2010. Fr Charles is presently stationed at the national office of YCS/YSM at Mylapore, Chennai.

Feet are a reflection of your personality
4 - STRETCHED
FOOT. With an
elongated, tight shape, this foot features toes that are fused together
and a big toe
that tapers toward the top. This foot has a rather delicate and subtle shape,
denoting dreamer and an idealist spirit. The "Water Foot" or
'Egyptian Foot' belongs to those who cherish their private life and are full of
hidden aspects, without feeling the urge to look reality in the face.
We are dealing with
someone who often changes mood, rebelling to everyday life and denoting certain
impulsiveness
5
Even the shape and size
of the toes and fingernails reveals that there are other sides of their
character that are not
available for us to explore at first sight. For example, those with small feet
love life and like to have a very hectic job, while larger feet are
characteristic of those with the greatest desire to succeed in new ventures.
Crooked fingers are a sign of surrender, long ones denote ambition, and a very
large big toe symbolizes a high degree of rationality. The feet can also
provide insight into the health of an individual with the help of reflexology
Massaging some portions of
the foot creates nerve stimulations that are transmitted directly to the brain
and cause a state of well-being. This can also relieve pain for those who
complain of discomfort in the abdomen, especially in the stomach and intestine
regions. It may even help you find out if you have a predisposition to
developing lung cancer by detecting the presence of nicotine in your toenails.
A clear sign that this may be happening, and which smokers should be weary of,
is when the nails begin to turn yellow
Feet are a reflection of your personality
3 - THE COMMON FOOT.
Also known as the 'Roman Foot', this is characteristic of
someone with a
balanced and
well-proportioned body shape and it is typical of someone who has an extrovert
and sociable nature. The owner is always ready to learn new things and to
engage in innovative intellectual experiences. This is a distinguishing feature
of travellers, which is why it is sometimes called the "foot of air".
This is to say that the owner has light feet, with toes and big toe in
proportion to each other so that the feet are aerodynamic.
He who owns this foot
loves to discover new cultures, always enhancing and enriching his own. In this
case, excessive safety can become an issue as the owner turns to excessive
pride or eccentricity in his behaviour.
Feet are a reflection of your personality
2 - FLAME FOOT.
Also called "Fire Foot" or 'Greek Foot', it is
characterized by the presence of a
narrower
second toe (long toe) than the rest of the toes, which protrudes from the toe
axis. The fingers are spread apart and create a shape that is similar to that
of a triangle. Someone who possesses feet such as this is an active, sporting
and creative individual, who loves movement and is characterized by a strong
enthusiasmOn the other hand, this individual is also very impulsive, which can occasionally lead to excessive stress for himself and those around him..This person can also encourage and motivate those around him.
Feet are a reflection of your personality
The shape of a foot can reveal a person's
characteristic traits and even provide information about his/her state of mind
and health
1 - THE SQUARE
FOOT - This refers to a foot with a slightly obtuse, in which the length of
the toes, including the first or big toe, is almost the same, giving rise to a
form similar to that of a rectangle. It is also called 'Giselle' or 'Peasant
Foot' and is characteristic of those who like to ponder and relentlessly
examine every decision, always weighing up the positive and negative aspects
In terms of shape, there
are four different types of feet that determine the way we are. Let's see what
this is all about
In this case, it refers to
individuals who never go with the flow and always decide based on a set of
principles, therefore being very practical in their choices. These people are
reliable and secure, who always finish what they set out to do

Supreme Court strikes down Section 66A of IT Act
- Section 66A of the Information Technology Act has been struck down by the Supreme Court for being "unconstitutional and untenable". The apex court delivered the landmark judgement on Tuesday on a petition filed by Shreya Singhal, who sought amendment in Section 66A of the IT Act. Singhal filed the petition after two girls - Shaheen Dhada and Rinu Srinivasan - were arrested in Palghar in Thane district of Maharashtra as one of them posted a comment against the shutdown in Mumbai following Shiv Sena leader Bal Thackeray's death and the other 'liked' it.
- The court said that the section interferes with freedom of speech and expression, adding that the definition for grounds of arrest under the section were vague. The section had given police powers to arrest anyone for sending offensive messages from mobiles and computers with up to 3 years in jail.

How to activate WhatsApp calling

However, the feature doesn't come right away to the users. Those who want to have the voice calling feature will need an invite, in the form of a WhatsApp call from any other WhatsApp user who has the feature activated on his/her app.
The steps involved are fairly simple:
The new calling feature is enabled in the latest version of the WhatsApp Messenger.
1. Go to Google Play and download/update the free WhatsApp Messenger app.
2. Ask any other WhatsApp user you know with the voice calling feature activated to call you via WhatsApp.
Post the call, a user can find the WhatsApp voice calling feature activated on their phones and a new 'Calls' tab to the left of the Chats and Contacts tab on the WhatsApp home screen.
While there have been unofficial APKs floating around promising the feature, but it is advisable that users install the app from Google Play or the official WhatsApp website
Note: It is recommended that you add the repo: http://cydia.angelxwind.net to the list of Cydia sources to install AppSync tweak, before you install the WhatsApp beta on your phone. This will ensure that the process of enabling voice call via beta app goes smoothly.
Steps to enable WhatsApp voice calling on your jailbroken iPhone
Step 1: Download and install WhatsApp beta on your iPhone using the download link provided above.
Step 2: Add the repo: http://apt.imokhles.com/ to the list of Cydia sources on your iPhone.
Step 3: Install the WhatsApp Call Enabler app and enable it via Settings.
Step 4: Login to WhatsApp and message the following number: +91-96502-79319. Alternatively, you can also message a friend with access to voice calling and they can call you to activate the feature on your phone.
